What a weekend!!! Part 2

World Missions – There is a lot happening with the Missions Program at the Vineyard Boise. To start with, there as been a huge push this year for folks to live the Advent-ure with God (ie. Life between the first and second advent of Christ). This has led to a big interest in world missions.

Em and I are planning on leading a missions trip to Paraguay and Chile this October. We will be having an information meeting this coming Sunday, April 22, to recruit a team. Please be praying for us as we share our hearts for Paraguay and for God to build the team He wants to go. (Also, please pray for me as I try to plan everything….)

In addition to leading a trip this fall, God has allowed me the privilege of co-developing and co-leading a Missions 101 Training Class. This class is focused on training new short-term missionaries in culture shock, spiritual warfare, cross-cultural sensitivity, and a whole lot more. My co-leader (one of the mission board members) and I lead one class this past February. We have since re-vamped the materials and brought in a lot more help for the upcoming class on May 19th. It is going to rock!!

Hmm… Not one to sit still, I am also involved it developing a Missions 201 class with the same co-leader I worked with on Missions 101. Missions 201 is focused on training new short-term trip leaders. Instead of doing a one day class like Missions 101, 201 will be one day a week for three weeks. This class will cover everything from how to recruit and build a team to dealing with foreign officials overseas. This is a huge responsibility as these students are going to be the ones to lead future trips for the Kingdom. My prayer is that we will be able to give them all the tools they need. Come Lord, Come!

One last point, Vineyard USA is holding a church wide missions meeting this October. One of the Mission Board Members has mentioned that it would be good if I went to this meeting….the problem is that I’m suppose to lead a team to Paraguay the same month. There is a way for me to do both – ie. leave a week early to attend the meetings in Arizona then fly out of Phoenix to meet the team in LA. However, before I commit to anything, I want to make sure God is in it. Please pray that God will give us wisdom about this decision…
